Game of
the Night
With last night being a busy Saturday
in the NHL, I had a tough time choosing the game of the night. After some
thought, I decided that the showdown in the desert between the Coyotes and
Flyers was last night’s best game. In my opinion, this was the most exciting
game because it contained a perfect balance of speed, physicality, and
goaltending.
Each team used their speed to score
some dazzling goals. The physical play from both sides didn’t create unnecessary
violence, but rather some jostling in front of the net. Lastly, the goaltending
from both teams was excellent, with some heart-stopping saves at the right
times.
Overall, it was a very good, hard-fought,
and close game by 2 teams with a lot of potential. In this particular case, I
feel the final score was very indicative of how close the game was. As time
wound down in the 3rd, it became clear the teams were just too
evenly matched to decide the game in regulation time. 3-on-3 overtime is what
made this game extra intriguing. Oliver Ekman-Larsson finished the game with a
goal 3:12 into the extra period. After watching this game, I thought to myself,
“this is the way hockey should be.”
