Craig
Anderson Makes Emotional Return
Ottawa
Senators goalie Craig Anderson returned to the team’s lineup on Sunday after a
leave of absence to support his wife Nicholle, who was recently diagnosed with
cancer. Anderson recorded a 37-save shutout in Edmonton during an emotional
night for him and his teammates. The fans at Rogers Place also gave him a
standing ovation for his efforts.
According to Senators general manager
Pierre Dorion, it was Nicholle who wanted Anderson to return. She said to her
husband, “Your teammates need you right now”. Just like Anderson’s teammates
needed him, Nicholle needs as much support as she can get to win her battle
against cancer. Get involved and donate to cancer research. This heartwarming
story really goes to show that in sports, sometimes we need to put our
differences aside and focus on what’s really important.
